New t the board, New 1972 Suzuki MT50

Hello - New to the forum. From Washington, into pretty much anything with an engine. Have a couple bikes, 68 Cougar, 91 Samurai, stuff like that...
Just picked this up today. Was sitting in some peoples yard with a for sale sign.
I have never seen one so I figured I better have it.
1972 Suzuki MT50 Trail Hopper.
1 owner ... Original 1972 title, original tires, original paint, oil injected 2 stroke, all lights, speedometer, etc ... Needs a new battery and mirrors and she should be street legal with hand signals. Has a switch for blinkers but the guy said it has never had them.
Seller said he has the original paperwork from its purchase, and the owners manual.
I don't see much info out there on these bikes, but it seems pretty cool. Runs great, but I think I will pull the carb off and clean it out, and change out the old 2 stroke oil.. guy said it has probably been in there for 10+ years.

Hi,& welcome,the two stroke oil will be fine,if the cap has always been on,I'd change the transmission oil for some fresh stuff

Wow, that looks in time-warp condition. I'd be tempted just to wash off the storage grime and not restore it, leave it as the factory intended ...

I don't plan on doing much to it. It came with the original tail light that is like brand new so I will put that back on, and the guy is supposed to be getting me the factory original mirror that came with it, but it was at his other house. I just need to clean the gunk out of the carb, and get a new cap for the oil tank.. I just plan on putting around town on it because I can

The two holes behind the headlamp fixing bolts are indicators are normally. Gawd knows where the rears would be.

Pics don't show any even on the original docs, but it does seem strange that there would be holes and nothing in them.

What is more strange is that it has a blinker switch, and no blinkers. The original owner said it came brand new with the switch, but no blinkers.

Not really that strange. MT50 was likely never road legal in the USA. Usually the small diameter wheel motorcycles aren't. But there are other countries which it was road legal. So provisions for the directional signals are present, but not installed in the USA.
As for the switch? Are there other switches in the assembly that has the direction switch? If so, it was probably cheaper to have only one part, instead of two different parts. Savings in quantity made, as well as coordinating which bike gets which switch.
