Suzuki 2 Strokes

Has anybody seen this documentary? Discovered it on netflix a while back and can't stop watching it. It's a little cheesy at times but very entertaining. Made in '71, three friends hop on their enduros and ride from Denver to the Panama Canal and along the way do everything from skiing to bull riding. Some good motocross coverage in there too.

YEP! My son & I watched it several months ago. What a flash back for me! Not that I took a trip quite like that one, but it sure brought back some memories of a 4000 mile trip a friend & I took back in the mid '70s. He on a Honda CB550 SS & me on my 1st Suzuki GT550 from upstate NY, up over the Great Lakes to Sudbury, Canada then down thru Soute St. Marie & across Mn. to Fargo, ND. No particular plan for that trip either, so as the weather turned cold & wet we turned south & ended up near KC, Kansas. Great time visiting friends & just motoring around the country, then headed back homeward. The movie brought back a simpler time & free spirits. Son & I both enjoyed it, though for different reasons.... me lookin' back, & him lookin' forward. He later bought Suzuki DR-Z400 & joined up with 2 of his friends on similar bikes & adventured from NY south to the Dragon's Tail in NC. I think they covered about 2Kmi in less than a week. Anyway, I have to agree with the whole philosophy of the movie. Ya don't need a big monster bike, or a lot of $$ to have a great time with good friends. Do it now! There will never be a better time!

I watched this show a week ago and have been thinking about scheduling a trip to go down to brazil ever since (the trip wouldn't be until retirement, like 30 years away, realistically...)

The 2nd half of that quote went something like "Don't wait until you have a bunch of kids because then it's too late". I've been a dad for almost 2 years now and it's true. Things are different now and I can't just hop on the bike and go, but that's not to say life isn't better now. Things have definately changed though. Someday, like you said Arne, it will be great to go on a trip like that, but that's years away for me too. I've always wanted to do a ride around the continental U.S., or just to go see California. I've had some great rides already though. Right before getting married I took my Yamaha RX50 on a 700 mile trip into Michigan's upper peninsuala. I brought a tent and camped in the woods when I got tired and ate when I was hungry. It was one of those experiences I'll always remember.

Its a great movie. If it does not pump you for an adventure on your bike, I don't know what will. I would have given my left arm to do a trip like that. I think they were riding old BSA's in the beginning and switched out to new Kawi's 2 strokes in the middle of the movie.
