Re: Needed starter clutch
Suzuki changed the design of the GT550 clutch / starter clutch to improve reliability.
Several parts of the new design were sold as a matched set.
See Service Bulletin GT-26 for details: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/techb ... 022-26.pdf
Lots of old-style clutch / starter clutches show up on eBay. Occasionally see new style as well.

Re: Needed starter clutch
Thanks for the reply jabcb.do you you know if the 380 and or 750 use the same part ? this would expand my search a great deal. Trying to avoid the early style if possible.

Re: Needed starter clutch
The rollers springs and cups were the same on the 750 and early 550. I don't think the rest was the same though.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: Needed starter clutch
The GT380 is kick start only, so it doesn't have a starter clutch.
Haven't done a parts number comparison between the GT550 & GT750, but their clutches look different. See:
