Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hi My name is Dean, I'm located north of Chicago in Highland Park, Illinois. A friend from another forum recommend I post my GT550 here. I already have three licensed and insured bikes plus a couple of resoration projects.. tight on space, so the little Indy needs a good home.

It has 19,xxx miles, clear IL title, 2 keys, owners manual and runs /rides excellent. Tires/tubes only have a few dozen miles on them, brakes are new, fresh fluids, ready to ride home. PO had top end done recently. Cosmetically, it is a nice rider, the chrome is less than perfect and there are some dings and scratches here and there. I have attached a slide show with detail photos. looking for $2400 +/-

Seen this thing in my local listings. Clean bike. Lots of $ tho.

Very nice. I think it's a steal at that price. Personally, I think the 550 is a better bike than the more popular 750. More fun to ride.

Me too. At that price it's almost worth shipping over to the UK.
Oh there is the matter of the 3.5+ 550s that I already have in the garage..........

Thought I would update some details here based on the questions received.

The stock oil injection is in place and in use.
Yes, both keys do work for the seat/ helmet lock, fuel cap and head lock in addition to the ignition
It has not been converted to electronic ignition- it still runs points/cond
It is an Illinois title. (IL )
The new tires on it are Michelin Pilots
No, there are no tools.
Yes, the elect. start works perfectly

Go and see it, take it for a spin and if it runs anything like reasonably, buy it!!

Sadly, you will miss her. The black and gold 75 was the prettiest of them all IMO.

+1 on that. Had a black 76 GT380 that I bought new. Never should have sold it.

I've ridden both, the GT550 is a very underrated Two Stroke,does everything very well,but for sheer grunt in top gear at 60 mph & accelerating too top speed the GT750 will run away from its little brother !
I have friends who bought GT550's to restore,rather than the bigger bike,mainly due to the lightness of the GT550 & the perceived thoughts that the water cooling was something to worry about,should it go wrong? I think the GT550 is probably easier to "live with" around City & Suburbia with its lighter weight etc,but once out on the open road the GT750 really shines & will do big speeds all day comfortably,someone once told me there is "no substitute for engine capacity" & the Liquid Cooling takes care of "lost horsepower" that you can experience with an air cooled motor on a hot Summers Day in Australia on a two OR 4 stroke motorcycle. I would still love a GT550 & GT380 in my shed,to keep the GT750A company...

I agree with the majority of that comment. I stated what I did for the main fact that 750's fetch much higher resale prices today. By far. The 550's are often sold for pennies compared to the 750. Both being in good to very good condition. I think the 550 is an extremely fun bike riding around in shorter spurts because it revs faster, sounds better, doesn't take as long to build up power and is lighter. I strongly feel it's over looked in comparison. But, just like any other bike. Most people often favor the bigger bike. The 550 is not a slouch compared to it's big brother. By no means. They are pretty much on par with one another until you start comparing power at one another's highest revs. Not that it means a lot, but I find it more eye appealing as well. They often look much smaller in pictures. But, are nice sized.
