Was in up in the hay loft of a old barn yesterday looking at a couple old bikes... Dark with a piss poor flashlight...and in a hurry... Besides an unknown old 250 in parts the other looks a lot like a YG1 - or at least via perusing old brand-Y photos online... It is in pretty rough shape but looked complete...

Are the YG1's collectable? Rare?

Probably rare; I don't know how collectable. Some people collect cheap spoons....

A nice bike making company , which I most like is YAMAHA. YAMAHA is higher producing company of the bike forever.I like YAMAHA YG1 most nice model of the bike in the category of the bike.What a great colour combination we can see in the production of the YAMAHA .

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I know a perfect restored the guy can't get 5k for. I have a ridable one painted and fixed I don't know if I could get 800. The biggest thing is you can't find a tank that the chrome isn't bad and had a couple of dings in it. Face it, thats the big part of the bike. To get a tank rechromed and painted would be upwards of $1200. They are a hoot to get ridable and ride around. Most of them the kicker is bad and oyu have to split the cases to fix. See them go On fleabay for 400/600 with titles.

On 'Brads bikes' there is a 1964 restored YG1 for $2500. Beautiful little bike, he has had it listed on site for at least 6 months, no takers. It maybe fun and rare, but $2500 is ridiculous for a 60cc(I think that is the size) bike that new cost less than $300. I know it costs a lot to fix these old bikes, paint, chrome, PARTS, it is nearly impossible to justify in a retail setting, paying that much for such a little bike. Of course who said owning these old bikes made any sense anyway? Fixing that barn find would be an interesting project if you planned on keeping it to put around on, they are kinda cute!

Listed price for 4 conditions, with $500 for fair to $2,200 for excellent. Looks like a price of $2,500 for the nice restoration on Brad's Bikes is reasonable.

Brad lists a GT750 for $3,500, which is what I paid for mine. He also lists a really nice GT750 with 3k miles for $5,500 -- a similar bike with 2k miles just sold on eBay for $5,750. Seems reasonable to me.

Vintage bikes are also about the pride and enjoyment of ownership and/or restoring them. If you like it, enjoy owning or restoring it, and can afford it then have fun.

They were listed as a Yamaha 80 but I think 73cc and I paid $760 for mine in 66. It hauled my 130 frame at 60 mph for 9000 miles with no issues. Fun little bike but I look like a circus clown on one now.
