A friend of mine here in "Cowtown", has two of those Turbos, and three years ago he did the Three Flags Classic on one, and got the award for smallest displacement bike to complete the ride. Fairly swift when the boost comes on. Another aquaintance, took a non-turbo version, the CX650E, to Bonneville Saltflats, and proceeded to set a speed record in the 750 cc pushrod stock class. His displacement of 653cc's bumped him up to 750 class, and still got the job done. Pretty tough little bikes. Good find, Mark. Cheers.

well allan , i havent riden it much yet just the test ride when i got it.
pleasently surprised with the accelaration from 40/50 mph as the turbo getts a wiggle on.
no probs with vibrations at high revs so far.
the handling was very possitive sure footed.
so now i have two ends of the spectrum in terms of technology.
it needs a new rear tire and has BT45 Battleaxe tires on it now but i was going to fit a spitfire instead do you forsee any probs mixing the two styles?? .
i got a old honda dealers manual for it (very detailed) for $30 of fleabay.
looking forward to some sunny texas spring days.
cheers mark
She will never be pretty but hoping she will be a fun ride.
Sorry for the late reply Mark, I think the Spitfires will do well on there but make sure you get the aspect ratios correct even if it means going up one size over stock on width.
So is the 650 coming to the Gap this May?, or what have you decided to bring with you.

hi allan ,if i can get the 650 and the buffalo on the back of my truck i will bring both but if i can only fit one it will be the buffalo.
i dont understand how the aspect ratio thing works .had very little experiance with tires other than replaceing with stock or offroad.a little expanation would be great as i fitted a 130/80-18 to my lester mag and i dont think it will fit the stock swinger( havent tried it yet but just measureing across with a vernier and the stock is 4.75 and the new is 5.3.)
thanks mark.

Mark about the tyres, you are trying to fit a metric dimensional size (width and profile) where there once was an imperial size.
If you look at a 400x18 the closest thing it equates to is a 110/90x18 in theory, but it doesnt really, since most of the imperial sized tyres never stuck to a TRUE dimensional sizing.
For example Bridgestone are known for making their tyres a bit bigger/wider than most other brands, while Metzeler were always as close as possible to a true size.
So if you measured a 400x18 Metz it would be very close to 4 inches wide, while the 400x18 Bridgestone would be anywhere from 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 inches wide.
So today the closest metric tyre to a Bridgestone 400x18 in terms of its visual side profile to width ratio is really a 120/90 x18. You may think a 110 is closer in width but the problem is the side profile on the 110 is so low in comparison to the 400x18 side profile that it makes the metric version 110 sized tyre look too small (low) for a large bike such as a buffalo when viewed from the side.
Even fitting a 120/90x18 onto a 2.15 width rim isnt a perfect fit either, since the rim is a bit too narrow for this tyre and pulls the sidewalls in a bit too much. This makes the curve of the tyres tread profile edge have a compound curve profile, not the best situation.
As for your current issue, putting a 130 onto the 3.0 rim is pushing your luck a tad, the correct size for that rim is really the 120/90x18. The 3.00 rim will 'open' the 120/90 tyre a tad if you fit one onto it, especially the sidewall sections, and it will be a bit wider compared to when its mounted on the 2.15 rim.
Mark check your signature, you have a Suziki GT750 listed
The notional or nominal inch size to me is largely irrelevant as is converting a supposed number into an equivalent mm size.
I look at this way, manufacturers list suitable rims for their tires, so that is a good way to match an available size to the rim. Of course the aspect ratio will probably be different and may need a change in gearing, but those are the sizes available.
The ideal fitment for a BT45V 130/80 is onto a 3.00 rim. A 140 would be pinched slightly and a 120 would also be acceptable. Check the rolling circumference of the current tire and compare it to the diameter from the chart to see how different the rolling circumference is and re-gear if necessary.
What a nice bike that is , I like three of them bikes. The bikes are nice with disc break.Bike with nice colour is cool.
Honda's nice model that represent in the gallery .The bikes are with great colour its digital and meter for presentation is nice.
