New Guy Looking for Repair Manual and Info on New Project

Post by BLAZY »

Hi! New guy here. Been riding over 40 years. Owned lots of different bikes/brands but keep coming back to the two strokes of my youth. I've rebuilt several RD250/350/400s and 5 GT750s. For something different, I just bought a 1976 GT500 off CL from State 8 Cycles in Ohio. It gets delivered next week, along with the service records and, hopefully, information about the previous owner. Anybody out there familiar with that particular bike? I'd like to figure out what's been done recently before I start replacing the safety items (tires, chain, brake line, cables, fluids, etc).

Along the same lines, anybody got a Haynes/Clymer/Suzuki repair manual for sale?

Thanks in advance.

Is that the GT500 they listed on their website?
If so, it looks good in the pics.

Thanks for the replies. Appreciate the link.

Agree it looked real good in the photos. I've never bought a whole bike remotely before. The fact it was being sold by a dealer who is providing service records gives me hope.

I see on ebay a guy in New Zealand has high quality repro service manuals, plus some new Haynes books offered by guys in the U.K. So, I've got a starting place.

I've bought several manuals from the fellow in New Zealand (http://e-classicbike.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and have yet to be disappointed. Recommended. 8)

+1 for the New Zealand manuals. He has stuff I couldn't find anywhere else and the content has been good.
