You should see a change in voltage as points open and close. Either measured across coil as jabcb said or each wire to ground (maybe how you measured?).

Do you see the voltage change as points open and close?

I checked across the points according to this post: search.php?keywords=insulator&terms=all ... mit=Search" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

See diagram half way down page. When points are open I get approximately 0.03 volts on the meter. When points are closed (connected) I get 12.5 volts.

I've checked the connection to the coils, all good there, 12.5 volts, which I assume is correct given that I've always had a closed point when testing.

I checked the volts at the end of the HT leads, although I think I need to retry while rotating through the points.

I had thought the kill switch may need a clean, but that's disconnected.

Thanks for the help so far. I'm sure you can tell I'm new to electrical. I just need to follow logical pattern through the circuit with tips from you fellas! Cheers.
