Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have any experience with the battery and their GT380? The manufacturer says the 4 Cell battery is designed for multi-cylinder bikes under 550cc. I'm building a cafe style bike so weight, and more importantly small size is key for a battery.

I'll only be running headlight and taillight on the bike.

Thoughts?

No experience with that type of battery but assuming the charging system is working fine, all the 380 needs a battery for is to energise the coils enough to start the bike, after which the charging system will keep the juice flowing.

I'm not an electrical engineer and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so take this for what it's worth: Old bikes tends to have poor voltage control and that will damage a LiPo type battery as I understand it, so you may need to upgrade the regulator.

I'm using a Ballistic 4 cell in my 550. While it hasn't been that long, seems to work fine and has enough juice to spin the electric starter. These can't take a overcharge so need to look at charge rate. I still am running the stock regulator but verified (at least for now) the regulator is doing it's job.

Consider a Lithium battery. Although, the charging systems are different on a GT380. I have one installed on a RZ 350. They are nearly half the size of the stock battery, extremely light, very dependable, etc. Like others suggested. I would upgrade to a single unit rectifier and regulator. You can free up space with one installed as well. I bought one of these for my 750 and it works fantastic. I went ahead and ordered up the single regulator rectifier from the link you provided so that is on its way.

Do you have an example of the lithium battery you were mentioning?

You might want to look here for rectifier/regulators.....American made so you won't be getting something shipped from China. I have used his stuff on other bikes but a quick email will tell you if it will fit your application.
