Re: How do I upload photo's to a post?
When I try to add a picture, I get a message that the 'board attachment quota has been reached' which makes me think that some space has to be cleared out in order to add more attachments. The best option is to create an account on a hosting site such as photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and direct link the pictures from the photobucket account.

I use Photo Bucket exclusively. I have never actually had any pics hosted by this site.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I am a member of many motorcycle and gun forums. I have never seen a forum that you can't post pics like on this forum. You can't even copy and paste pics like on other forums. Can't this problem be corrected? This is a good forum but with a poor system...

Re: How do I upload photo's to a post?
There are quite a few forums that don't host images. Storage costs money, and as I understand, the originator of this website has, more or less, passed the control of the site on to other long time contributors (please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
The hosting storage is full. Reached max capacity. No more space
The short term solution is that you need to hot link images from another site. Save your picture at Photobucket, Imgur, ImageShack, or even your ISP provider's web space they give you.
List of some image hosting sites
Then you just put the URL of the image between the boxes you see when you press the "Img" button above the text box you type your post in.
I've been through this conversation on a number of sites before. People will talk about donating money for more storage, but collecting money (and keeping people happy when money is involved) is a pain in the butt. One solution is to do maintenance on the uploads stored on the server. Either deleting or down sizing them, to free up some space. But again, that's a lot of work for something that is essentially free to all of those folks whom visit the site.

Re: How do I upload photo's to a post?
Well put. PhotoBucket is an extra step in getting an image up, but after you get used to doing it a few times it's pretty quick and easy. My ISP Cox Communications used to provide space but it wasn't much (20meg). Then they upped it to 5 gig (great I thought) till I actually tried to use it. Sharing photos cannot be public. It must be by invitation only. So it's worthless. Enter PhotoBucket.

Yeah .. unless you have your own server Photobucket http://photobucket.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the way to go .. use the IMG link just above the reply and paste in the link Photobucket supplies .

The storage limit we have on the server for images is not that big and it has been reached. If I clean it out, the images will be gone from those old posts.
Why not simply host your photos from places such as Photobucket and link them. Many members including myself do this all the time and it wont cost us extra server space just to have photos.

Two strokes, its just that simple.

Re: How do I upload photo's to a post?
A cool feature on the GSXR site i am a member on it automatically reduces the size of all pictures posted to make them easier to load and take less space but if you want to see the picture full size you just click on the picture .. works well

But it doesn't take less space -- The full size picture is taking up the full size space on the host server. It just reduces bandwidth, only displaying the smaller picture in your browser, speeding up page draws. A relic of the days of dialup, really.Suzukidave wrote: it automatically reduces the size of all pictures posted to make them easier to load and take less space...
Allan is correct, that deleting old attachments would lose the pictures in the old posts. Some housecleaning (resizing some of the old pictures) would find a little more room, which would get the attachments working again. But if I'm not mistaken, there are only about 2000 pictures (a pretty low number), so any space found would be quickly eaten up.
Perhaps we might disable/eliminate the attachment button on the posting screen. This would at least prevent people from trying to attach photos this way, eliminating some of the frustration.

OK then. How about some full size pics of your T500? Sure looks purdy in the avatar!
