That's why I went for an "O" ring chain on my T500.

After a half hour of scraping and another half hour of gasoline in a tub with a stiff brush, I got it 99% clean. Reduced the weight if the cover by a good 60%. Man that was nasty!

That's really not so bad. I had two cans of chain lube let go in a cabinet recently. I could see a dark sticky mess of the bottom of the upper shelf and on the wall and then it slowly dawned on me that the top have blown off and not one but two cans of that sticky crap was coating everything on that shelf.

I had to use a can of ether to move it.

Chain lube sure is sticky.

gross would have been a big old crack or hole from a snapped chain. That's just a dirty girl :)

Fritz - I was under the impression you couldn't convert the vintage bikes to the 520 o-ring due to the thickness scrapping on the case or something to that effect? But I know 520 is narrower than a 530, so is it possible just to buy a 520 o-ring and put it on the bike without any additional modification?

thanks - sr

I heard that too and managed to fit O ring 530 chains to a couple of 750s. I wonder if some of the cheaper chains might be thinner than say a top of the line X ring chain.
