Hello, could someone please tell me how long in degrees approx the points remain open for , after they have opened on their timing mark.
I am setting up the timing and when the L mark comes round the points open bang on right point but I have noticed they are not closing until approx 150 degrees after they opened , I can not find any info on this.
Is 210 degrees enough time for the coil to recharge.
My cam had rust on and I am worried I may have changed its characteristics by cleaning it up.

Thank you

I don't have any exact figures but they do remain open for quite some time. I wouldn't worry myself over it I just picked up a new cam (kikusan ignition). You can too!

Dwell is in the general neighborhood of 180 degrees. ( Dwell is the # of degrees the points are closed.)

Your 210 degees is fine.

Thank you for your help I am going to bed now but will be back on the job first thing tomorrow.
I was worried that I had mis-shaped the cam with overzealous rubbing.
LOL.

thanks again.
