Is there any good way to deal with these annoying bumps that appear on chrome?. Scotch-brite just scratches it as you can see one small spot where I tried it. Hard to photograph chrome. It's worse than it looks.

You will never get rid of them completely, but I have had very good results putting some aerokroil on them (or probably any penetrating oil) and using my fingernail or the edge of an old credit card to rub the rust down. It will lift/clean out most of the rust and make the bumps harder to see, doesn't scratch and some of the smaller pits disappear. I think it might also have a benefit of slowing down future rust.

I have used water and foil, yes aluminum foil that you use for cooking, dip it in water and go at it like your wet sanding, keep dipping it in water and sand it with a piece of aluminum foil , it will take most of the stuff out , might leave a little but after you do it, polish it with chrome polish and it should look a lot better, try a small area and see what you think , this is chrome over metal and not plastic right? also sometimes it might leave very small scratches but not like the scotch bright, and if it does leave scratches the chrome polish usually makes them disappear ....you can google it and see other peoples results,,,,i know it sounds weird but it works

+1 to aluminum foil but you have rust under the chrome ( as you already know ) maybe sand and paint ?

That's what I did with the chrome front fender on my GS. Actually had it chemically stripped - then painted to match the tank and tail piece. This rear fender looks good on first appearance, but those miserable bumps run full length down both sides. Not as bad as under the seat that I photographed, but hundreds is tiny ones.. I might opt to re-chrome, but there is a small dent as well. Dent looks worse than it is due to reflection.
