I'm Done

Post by Coyote »

Vacuum line is capped off and the fuel line is way long for use on an exterior tank. OK. It's finished. Now what?

Drop it off at my house. I'll ride it like I stole it, and tell you how it runs.

I'll be home by 6:30 PM. ;)

Looks sweet with the black cases too. Get out there and give her a shakedown!

Is that a Bandit / RF master cylinder, by the way? Those work really well with the standard GT caliper, adds considerably to the braking power while giving more 'feel'.

I'm surprised how good the head looks without the cover. In my opinion, one tiny little detail would do a lot. Seat trim. I don't know how difficult it is to obtain ? Fantastic, job.

The MC is a generic I bought off ebay for $34. Has a 14mm bore - same as stock. 2 surprises about it. It uses a micro switch for the brake light and the banjo bolt came with 2 stat-o-seals

PJ, nothing can help that seat. I hated it the first time I saw it and have grown to hate it even more. It just looks wrong. Sort of bulbous. The front of the seat is wider than the rear. The covering makes me queasy. It looks (and feels) like extra padding has been added to the front half, making the edges way too rounded.
I have some seat trim. 2 of the long pieces and 1 short. BUT they are not going on THAT seat. They chop and channel cars. That's what this seat needs. IMO
The seat pan is stock and way above average condition. All the rubber bits are new. Not by me. That's the way I got it.

Covers I know are expensive and then you take the risk of liking the one you might buy over the net. Why not try uncovering it, shave the foam to your liking, recover and add your trim. You might be surprised at the outcome. I think the bike looks fantastic. I love the color. Just honesty about the seat needing trim. That pan looks stinking brand new, lol ! You should be proud that you never gave up on what you set out to do. From your back problems to the pistons seizing. I applaud you.

It's supposed to run too? Dang, I knew I was missing something. Really don't know yet, but I'm banking that it does. Just waiting for assistance getting it out of this shop and up front to the garage. I plan to record all that, but haven't discovered how to shrink video to post on you tube. Also my camera records in the mov. format and will need to be converted to the more common .mpg or .avi format. I want to make about a 10 minute video, The suspense is killing me.

Grab a chair, a beverage of your choice, sit back and admire the work you've just accomplished. Great job, looks great...Bravo!

After that, take it out to the street.

Your bike turned out very nice, have been watching the build for quite some time. Now find another and save a life.
