Just wanted to post something about a 1972 gt750j model that recently sold on ebay,,,,it went for $12,300.00 !!!!!!!! and the motor had not been rebuilt, it had the crank seals replaced under the factory warranty which means they were replaced in 1972, so they are still old as hell,,,, just couldn't believe how much cash it brought?!!!! wow,, it looked really nice, new paint and chrome not bashing it just couldn't believe the amount of money it brought,, I was trying to post a link to it but since it sold I cant seem to bring it up,,,

What you may have seen on eBay was a winning bid of $12,000. If the bike is truly sold, and a sales transaction ever takes place, is another matter. You may see that bike again.

Shite.
Maybe I sell mine.. I want a new sled 2016 Ski Doo 800 for one ... fair trade
$12.3K

some rich guy wants to relive youth?
My guess person is in their 60s? Better sell within the next few years before the people who want them gone or can't ride them.
My son hates my old bikes

In UK, not uncommon to see excellent Kettles exceed this, say £8000 or rarely, more.
Here's one last week, went for ~$15000:

Hi,the price for GT750's still lags behind the Kawasaki 750 H2,,,,now they are fetching crazy money,I've seen them go for $18,000 & beyond $22,000 Aussie Dollars

Sure was a pretty one. But in the end, it's just an old 2-stroke. They are messy, sound bad and sound worse with most chambers. Yet there is a newborn lust for them. Go figure

To think, I gave $300 for my 77 barn find.

Not just 2 strokes.
A guy near me is restoring a sandcast CB750 and with side panel badges at £250 each, is up to £17k already.
They are north of £25k now for that model.
Old Brit bikes fetch really stupid money, have you seen prices for Vincents/Ariel 1000s or early Bonnevilles, Rocket Gold Stars etc. Most of them were crap when they were good, but nostalgia is happening now, in big lumps and expensively. Enjoy it while it lasts.

The 72 GT750 that just sold for $12.3K on ebay, belonged to Chip Miller.. He is the guy who made all the GT550 and GT750 shirts in his print shop with the engine teardown on the front.... I was watching that auction to the end and it went crazy the last 15 seconds.. I did talk to Chip a couple days later, and he was very surprised also it sent that high..

I sure would like one of those t-shirts, if for nothing else, reference for reassembling mine!
