See the pictures below. I need to take my speedometer apart and screw those two small Phillips Heads down to stop the face from shaking and vibrating. The screws have worked themselves out almost. Has anyone taken these apart and what sort of trouble is it? Thanks LexPaul

It's pretty difficult. I have done it, but don't think I can describe the procedure very well. This should help:

I've taken my 1972 T500J tacho apart twice. It isn't pretty so no photos.

Mine has a metal band around the centre which appeared to have been fitted while the case was almost molten, in other words, melted case plastic was stuck to the inside of the metal band.

Anyway, uncrimping the band wasn't going to do it, so here comes the ugly part. I hacksawed through the plastic, all the way around. To refit, I used epoxy ( a god amongst glues) to hold it all together. Three years later, after the second disassembly, all is well.

For the visual perfectionists amongst us, I would recommend stirring some carbon black pigment into the epoxy and then sanding it once cured to obscure the join - me, can't be bothered
