Ok , 1st merry xmas to all, now for the question ....its not a complicated major question at all, its kinda stupid but here goes,,,,on my 74gt750 the upper left exhaust baffle comes loose and the bolt falls out and eventually the baffle goes with it , I went on a ride a while back and all of a sudden the bike was loud as hell!!! I pulled over and sure enough I lost the baffle somewhere on the highway, I looked for about 2 hours and finally found it! so I got a new bolt and lock washer and it was good until about 2 days ago when I lost it just riding in town and city speeds, like 35-40 mph,, I was able to find it again and carry it home getting myself full of carbon and oil, it sucked,,,,the thing is its only the upper left exhaust which is the same exhaust the always seems to be wet, not very sooty but wet,,, so I went and got a new bolt and lock washer and lock nuts,, I put lock nuts on all the baffle bolts and I'm sure they wont come out at all,, but it looks weird , so Question, have you guys had this problem?? with just 1 baffle all the time?? and how did you fix it??? I'm sure I have mine fixed now but looks like a have little shinny nipples on the end of my exhaust ?????

Check the thin walled tube the baffle slips into and through which the baffle screw runs. Is it still a hole or worn to an open slot? if slotted, use some kind of lockwire through the baffle wall and thin walled tube or med the slot.
If all is well, and you've used a lock washer on the screw and the screw and thread are good, try a little RTV silicone around the baffle head to get a better seal into the thin walled tube, or use a longer screw and a thin nut on the inside of the baffle.
Yes if I lose a baffle, its usually the same one that plays up!

You just have to love those baffles. Either they won't come out, or they come out when you don't want them to.

I had one which wouldn't budge on my T500. Guess I forgot to put the screw back in. After all, it wasn't going anywhere. Until the day it did. Stored in my collective knowledge is that even a high quality cable tie can't handle the heat at the end of the pipe. Sacrificed my key ring to get myself back home with the baffle in place.

Remove the 'bar' on the end of the baffle and drill a 6.2mm hole where the welds were and all the way through the end tube on the silencer where the baffle fits. Put a 6mm bolt all the way through with a flat and spring washer plus a nyloc nut through the entire thing. If you really want, put a spot of threadlock on the bolt end too.
If you don't have metric sizes, then use 1/4" bolt/drill or thereabouts.

Escape from that you little barsteward!!!

thanks guys , the hole is not stripped or slotted, it just seems that one baffle that always gets more wet likes to come loose,, I put a new lock washer , or slotted washer on the bolt head side and screwed the bolt in , then put a nylon lock nut on the inside part , under the bar that runs across the baffle, it should not come loose now , it just looks kinda weird ,, I did think about just safety wiring it , but that might look worse I think ill just ride it until the lock nuts turn black then I don't think you could tell ,,,like I said it looks like I have little shinny nipples at the end of all my baffles now ohh well,, just thought id ask you guys,, thanks for all the info and help! thanks expert racer, that's exactly what it has now!

Well done,my right hand top pipe baffle has tried to "escape" several times,cable tie has done the trick for the last 9 months in conjunction with the screw,very expensive to replace a lost baffle !!!
