Brake disk conversion.

This year I plan to revamp my T500 cafe bike.(the one in my avatar). I'm looking at a twin disk front end, using Gt forks, but I want to upgrade the rotors and calipers. I can remember this being discussed before, and was hoping you guys would remind me what modern rotors will bolt straight on to a GT500 hub? I know I will have to make adapters for the calipers, and that they will most likely need to be single sided, but any suggestions appreciated.

I have Katana rotors on my GT750, but I don't remember which year they are from....Barry S may know. He turned me on to them.

GS550 wheels, GS1000 calipers and Bandit 1200 m/cylinder front on the GT550.

The SV650 has a great front end, but it IS modern in it's wheel diameter and width. The GS parts (as suggested) will keep the look more normal.

One of my GT750s has GS1100 forks. Used a ProgressiveSuspension lowering kit to get the correct ride height. I was surprised at how much better the forks are compared to the other GT750.

Here is the thread on the GS forum that I have always referenced for brake upgrades when using GS forks. It is a 58 page thread but there is a wealth of information there.

The GS rotors look to be an option then......I want to be able to bolt them to a GT500 hub, and would like to use the 500 forks. I'll then figure out which calipers can be used with adapter brackets.

GT500 fork has no left mounting for caliper. afaik.
GS(550/M)-Brake-Disks diam. 275mm + GS(550)-Fork stanchions(diam.35mm) +GT(550/750)-steering stem/triple clamps + GS(550)-calipers will fit without adapters.

GS-Front-Brake-Disk don't fit to GT-Caliper on GT/GS-fork (the Disk grinds on the caliper)

Another key resource that I use is this one.

http://metalgear.com.au/searchByBikeMod ... &x=32&y=13" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can search by bike and find the specs of your bolt pattern, center hole, offset, diameter etc.

A mate of mine put a complete GT750 front end on his T500 last year. The triple trees fitted straight in so everything else was straightforward. The easy option would be a complete GT750 or late GT550 (with disc left fork leg) front end and do the same. I'm not sure if a GT550/750 front hub is the same a a GT500, it may be a swap(?) but you'll still need a left fork leg to match for twin discs. The GS1000 twin piston caliper fits straight on the GT550/750 forks. I used drilled GT750 discs.
I know the brake lines are crap in the pic but they will be redone!
