1972 Suzuki GT550 Float Needle Valve???

Hi All,

Sorry if it's posted on here and I missed it in my search. I just purchased a 1972 GT550 and it's missing some parts from the carbs. I saw that I need to find 97.5 main jets for the outer cylinders and a 95 for the center. However, my carbs are also missing the float needle valves. Does anyone know the Mikuni part number for them and where I can find them. I'm open to a complete rebuild kit if that's the better way to go. Thank you all for your help!!!!

Chris

Avoid the non Mikuni rebuild kits which all are.

Carbs for the 1972 triples are a bit confusing.

The GT550 carbs are marked either 34012, 34013, 34014, or 34015. This is the second portion of the carb part #.
The number also includes an “L”, “C”, or “R” designating the carb location.
The number is located on the vertical flat surface near the choke cable.

Partzilla.com has part diagrams for the latter three, but does not have 34012.
My 72 GT550 has the 34012 carbs. (Rats.)

Haven’t started the rebuilt of my GT550, so I’m not yet sure what the differences are.
I did notice that the part # for the float bowl gasket varies.

JetsRUs.com has a good description useful for figuring out the Mikuni part #s.

JetsRUs.com is a good for getting the Mikuni parts.
eBay is good too, just make sure you are getting genuine Mikuni, or NOS Suzuki parts.

Did you check your carb part #s?

Have some more info…

Ian’s guide to the GT550 has some pics:
The ’72 early “high-hat” carbs that have a needle extension on the needle jet:

The ’73 “low-hat” carbs that do not have needle extension:

This forum topic has some info on the “high-hat” carbs with the needle extension:

which has this pic:

Carb service data is here:

From all of this, I’ve concluded that the needle valves are VM26/26 2.0

I did not find the needle extension on the parts diagrams.
Looks like JetsRUs has them:

I’m definitely not a carb expert, so if someone has better info then please let us know.
