Very strange ?

Like a lot of us I'm sure, I like to look around on EBay on a weekly basis just to see what bikes there are out there available. For the past 4 or 5 years, every spring there has been several GT 750 and 550's listed every week up until winter. This year, at this point. It's past early May and there has been only a few total listed. I wonder why ? By this time last year there were a few dozen already listed, very strange ?

Maybe it's just what's available or even what's 'in'.
Over here there seems to have been lots of Hondas imported and less 2 strokes this year.
Quite a few places cafe-ing 750s, so maybe that's the current interest.

Maybe they have all finally been sold? Or maybe like me they aren't prepared to pay ebay's stupid charges? I've got a lovely 1971 750J for sale if you want one

Not me Paul. If I ever go over to the wet side, it'll be a later - much later - model.
I never rated the 750Js back in the day. That's why I bought a 550J instead back in '72.
Lighter, quicker, handled, stopped and 'went' especially when breathed on by Eddie Crooks and myself back then.
Hopefully the one I've just done will be even better. A 550J next year's project though. Watch for the 'Yeti" thread when it appears.
Yeti?
'Yet Another 550'.

I think it is a drop off in sales of vintage Japanese motorcycles overall, not just the Suzuki 2-strokes. It was discussed on another board a few weeks ago.

Not really sure I know why, or if it is any one thing. Has the market for those of us interested just began to get too old? many of the bikes have been finding their way back to Pacific Asia - has the market there dropped enough, due to declining currency, to drop values all around?

Going by the amount of imported bikes on eBay UK, I'm not surprised you're getting short over there

It seems quite a lot of older bikes are bought by those either re-living their youth or, now they can afford it, buying that bike that was on the poster on their bedroom wall when still at school. I'm guessing that as time passes, these buyers will be looking for the next generation of bikes........Slabsiders, Pocket Rockets, Ninjas etc?

It's very odd. I particurily follow Yamaha RZ's. Those bikes are very sought after. By this time there has been dozens listed by this time for the past 4 or 5 years. Maybe, 3 of them so far. It's very weird that someone mentioned it cause I totally agree. Most popular classic bike posted at this point has been Honda CB's. Over 100 of them listed to this point. Not even very many GS's. My opinion is that people are getting fed up with EBay bending sellers over. Way, I see it. Based on past years. There's no other logical explanation. May to June is hottest selling month for motorcycles. There's alway a ton of auctions for these bikes during that time period. Very little going on for the past month. Not 1 RZ Or RG 500 listed to this point. No Honda NSR's either. Not normal. Maybe 1-3 Kawasaki H1's and 2 or 3 RD's.
