Heating up to fast and spitting and sputtering

I have a gt550 that heats up in like 30 seconds the whole exhaust gets really hot. I'm not sure what it can be some one if you have any ideas please help.?

Possibly there is fuel in the exhaust and this burns when the engine runs.
I suggest you get the exhaust off and drain it, then sort the fuelling issues if that's what the issue is.

Correct me but it seems like it would take an excessively
lean condition to make the pipes overheat like that. Years ago my buddies and I forgot to tighten a vacuum line going into the crankcase on one of my snowmobiles and the extra air made the expansion chamber glow red hot.

Too much fuel through the engine and pipes, I've always thought, would cause a relatively cooler pipe.

I meant fuel IN the exhaust, not a rich mixture.

Ignition timing, if too retarded, will do this.
