I have a new nut to connect the oil feed to the tank, but the old one refuses to come off the union. I see it's a left hand thread, anyone have an idea what needs to be done.
Thanks
Steve

I don't recall any left hand threads around there (happy to be proved wrong). The only one I can think of is the bleed screw on the oil pump itself

All oil unions on the oil pump system are indeed RH thread. There is a screw on top of the pump( plunger guide pin screw) that is LH thread. 3 guess's how I found that out.
That screw isn't usually used as a bleed for the system. The big 17mm headed one on the end of the pump is used for bleeding, or at least it's the one I have used for the last 42 years.
Tho get the union screws out, it's a 8mm ring or socket spanner, preferably a 6 sided one, as they round off easily. Be gentle
Or do you mean the nut that goes between the tank and the outlet fitting?
Now that does have a LH tread at the bottom, and a RH at the top.
Mine just unscrews from the fitting, it was a bit tight.
