Carb leaks after it's been sitting

Hi all, hope your enjoying the great riding weather! My '66 Suzuki S32-2 has a problem - about 5 minutes after I shut off the bike (petcock still on) one of its carbs starts leaking. I'm assuming the float tab needs to be adjusted but want to eliminate another possibility - since there is no leakage while the bike is running, can I eliminate the float gasket as a cause?

Does your bike have a manual or vacuum petcock?

The needle valves are intended to control flow when the motor is running. It is normal for them to leak a bit when the motor isn’t running. So you need to use the petcock off position.
But 5 minutes suggest something needs tended to.
The needle valves might not seal as good as they should because of crud from the gas tank.
Check the condition of the needle valves.
Check the condition of the floats. You won’t have the correct level if the floats are dented in or have been repaired.
And make sure the float is set correctly.
