I just restored one. On the positive side, they are very simple and easy to work on. The motor is very light and there aren’t many parts. On the negative side, parts are fairly hard to find, and it doesn’t seem very durable. Mine only had 5000 miles on it but nearly all the transmission gears were stripped and the drive hub was cracked. I had to replace a lot of parts.
Look at my thread under the restorations section for details and pics.

Best of luck, the older the resto, the harder it gets.

Accel 123
Autolite 353
Bosch 0241245592
Bosch W5EC
This is what a quick google search came up with. I would recommend going to an auto parts store and they can cross reference. I cannot get to my bike until spring, otherwise I would look and tell you.

If the ignition is Points & Coil, yes, you will need a battery.
If the ignition is by Flywheel Magneto, no, you will not need a battery.
Cheers Geoff
