Turn Signal Brackets

Why are the brackets used to mount the rear turn signals on a GT380? I don't have the signals yet, but it would seem that they would just screw into the frame. Anything to do with minimum separation distance? Thanks.

A styling issue.
On the T250/T350 twins, Suzuki mounted the turn signals above the grab rail / luggage rack. So rear turn signals attach directly to the frame.
On the GT380/GT550/GT750 triples, Suzuki mounted the turn signals below the grab rail / luggage rack. Doing this required that little bracket.

There is a turn signal separation requirement, which varied over the years. Not sure what it was back then. But that might be another reason for the little brackets.

And according to OJB the brackets were only fitted to US and Canada models.

Thank you both. I thought I remembered all I needed to know about these scoots from the last time I had one (1973), but as it turns out, don't remember anything!!!!!
