That's a very common thing to do. I thought I'd done it once, but I was mistaken.
Must be a senior thing!!!

But to answer the thread, yes. I knew a carb once.
A nice sort of thing, piloted jets but caused blockages from time to time.
I never knew what made him tick, but in the main he was OK, sliding up and down.
He gave some people the needle, but he choked himself in the end.

Funny thing. I was gonna raise a question about 3 different kind of carb chokes. I was going to point out three different aspects of each. Raise a question. Then I realized, the points I was going to make. Answered my own question. Ha ha, figure that one out !

If you have some info about different chokes that would be helpful to someone you might post it even though you have answered your question

Ok. I'll share. I have an RZ 350 that has a pull out choke. I believe, but yet have looked at it internally. There is a groove on the interior that allows it to close on it's own as the bike warms up. The late model 750 has a very similar choke in that it rides on a bent tab. It too, closes on it's own as the bikes warms. A third choke on the GS 450 is mounted on the handlebar and can stay open however long you decide to keep it in that position and will not close on its own. I have to constantly fiddle with the RZ 350 choke as the bike warms. It's closing too early on its own. As a result I often have to pull it back open, if the bike is not warmed up. I was going to question why or what mechanism would be faulty in the RZ 350 choke not allowing it to stay open as long as it needs to be ? It's not the internal spring, as all the spring does on a choke needle is allow it to completely close. Not open or stay open for that matter. I was going to question, what allows some chokes to stay open as long as you choose or for some to close on their own ? When I realized, some chokes are simply cable operated, grooved or like the GT 750. Another device holds the choke open as long as it needs to be. Some chokes have to be manually closed in small increments. I believe there is an internal groove worn in the RZ 350 pull out choke. Not allowing it to stay open as need be.
