Removing needle jet? Tool?

Im gonna clean my vm28's on my 550 and read that the needle jet hole can be dirty, how do i remove it to check?
It is nr 11 im refering too:

remove the main jet and washer. screw in a large hex main jet or small round jet and tap that lightly with a hammer and wooden punch (chop stick) to drive the needle jet up though the slide cavity.

Allan,
No special tool needed. Carb off bike, remove float bowl and carb top. Remove main jet and washer. Now simply tap the jet out pushing from the bottom end.
Note there is no O-ring - it's just held in by friction and the main jet.
