Two-stroke Oil Leak

I went out to the garage and took a good look at my GT380 for the first time since around Christmas. I noticed that there is a puddle of two-stroke oil at the end of the left swing arm. It appears as though the oil is running down the frame and then along the swing arm to the end when it drips onto the floor. The oil reservoir is still full and the bike has not been started since November. I would assume that it is coming from the oil tank as it is running down the side to which the bike is leaning. The puddle is about the size of small saucer and I did not observe an actual drip. Have any of you had a similar problem.

My GT550 did the same. Check the hose from the oil tank to the pump. There is no clamp at the end, at the banjo bolt that bolts to the pump, just a couple of wraps of stainless wire. That's where mine was leaking! I guess after 35-40 years, and in my case 150,000 plus miles, of heat and vibration the hose got hard or the wire lost it's tension!

I did not notice any leak near the pump, but I will check again as well as near the tank.

Definitely not leaking from the oil lines. Has to be a crack on the left side of the tank.

You can spill a drop or two on top of the tank filling it without noticing. Especially, being in a hurry. You dont realize, a drop or two during each fill, until enough accumulates and runs down the side when it's parked. Real easy to overflow the tank when it's on the side stand.

It has been leaking for months, seems worse the morning after a cold night. Leaves a puddle, but the level in the tank does not seem to decline much if at all. The oil is running down the frame, along the left swing arm and onto the floor.

Wash and dry the bike, then dust the left side with baby powder. Let her sit overnight on the side stand and check to see where the oil is coming from in the morning.
