Got the little blighter fired up today, sounds nice. No tank, it's got a rather pronounced leak.

Re: Its a 500 Jim, but not as we know it !
Thanks chaps, appreciated.
As for doing it for a living....I don't think so, there is a big difference between goofing around in the workshop and having to make a crust doing it
.
The next project pipe dream is re-creating the Seeley TR500 I used to have. Anyone got a set of straight cut Primary gears and a C/R gearbox
.
Cheers Zunspec

Re: Its a 500 Jim, but not as we know it !
I know you canI can supply all you need for the Seeley Rep

I'm thinking:
Lightened Crank
Crank re-build with parts as necessary (I have NOS Rods and a Centre bearing)
C/Case stuffers (although I'm not up on modern theory regarding these)
C/R G/Box + new bearings
Would love a Dry Clutch, but standard would suffice
Straight cut Primary gears
Centre plug heads (my original Seeley had "works" items, or so I was informed

Barrels ported (what Spec TBD)
C/Case matched to ported barrels
Self generating ignition & Tacho (original used a Krober set up)
Cut back the sprocket cover as necessary
Retain CCI lubrication (with mods)
Pistons ? I used to use GT750 items with 1mm cut off the skirts and cut aways matched to the barrel
A set of proper racing Carbs (original used 38mm Mikunis)
Pipes ? dependant upon state of tune I suppose
Now for the chassis:
Seeley frame (I wonder where I could get one of those?)
Forks, Road Holders and a single Lockheed disc setup was very effective but there's better out there now. Something from a suitable road bike maybe.
Spoked Aluminium wheels if possible
Aluminium tank and suitable seat unit (I junked my original Seeley item and helped a mate make a mould and turned out our own (His went on a Ducati GT750 bevel case)
TZ 250/350 fairing, or something more modern?
Some sticky rubber
Daytime MOT
Pop, dream over

A vid of the bike in the fresh air:

I gave it a spin up the road and back, now I have a dozen things to adjust

Thanks suzukidave.
It has taken a while but that's normal for my projects
I now have to wait until spring and the road salt to disappear before getting it on the road.

Well the Triumph is 99.99% finished, apart from the engine strip-down to try and address the oil leaks
. Came up quite nice from what it was.

What can I do next I wonder.

Re: Its a 500 Jim, but not as we know it !
Hello Suzukidave,
The Triumph has turned out well but I now enter the actually running it on the road phase. I have already mentally prepared myself to have to address oil leaks, of which there are plenty
.
I actually have 2 VFR400Rs (NC30), both were road legal and running but would require a few months recommissioning now. It's damn hard work to keep everything running
. They are a jewel of engineering, good for 125+ mph when running to spec.
Cheers Geoff

Well, I have this GT500 sitting in the shed, would make a nice doner bike for a Seeley (replica) framed TR500
