Suzuki 2 Strokes

Hello! Some of you awesome members have already interacted with me regarding a mechanical issue I'm having. Now, I have a question regarding your opinion on putting turn signals on my 1966 Suzuki b100p. To some people I've spoken to it's a matter of safety. To me it's a question/matter of aesthetics. What's your opinion?

Also, I've looked at some aftermarket signals...they seem so cheesy / low quality. Any suggestion if I DO end up adding them?

Hi,just from the safety angle I'd fit indicators ! It's hard enough on a bike,,,steering,braking & what ever else you may have to deal with all at once,without the added problems of giving "hand signals" !!
You're right about "aftermarket" indicators..most look cheap & nasty,not to mention way to small to be seen & noticed...& that's what it's all about BEING SEEN I'm sure the switch gear,flasher rely,etc from another Suzuki from that era could be fitted,good luck & enjoy your motorcycle experiences

I'm not sure whether American models were fitted with indicators prior to 1968 - I know that here in Canada they were standard. For your bike, there were I think a couple of different style available: a lollipop style that was flatter front and back and with a pressed in stalk, then then a spheroid style with clamped stalks. I can post some scans from the parts manual showing both versions if interested, but currently there appears to be a set of the lollipop style on eBay: listings 360378339844 and 360378346014.

These ones could be adapted to use on the bike but you would have to make brackets for them. Not too far off in design from the originals and the price is such a steal its worth buying them.

GT750Battleship: Yes, being seen is important. Most drivers don't look for people on bikes. And, since I'm just learning, it's important for me to focus on shifting and everything else. But...ughhhh! Those horrible cheesy aftermarket signals! Oh, I guess I'll have to deal with 'em. Thanks for your input!

oldjapanesebikes: My bike was manufactured in Japan and imported.
And in 1966, no signals were mandatory. I think the lollipop models would be OK. It would be so kind of you to provide the information for those...the scans you mentioned. I would appreciate that! Thanks!


Suzsmokeyallan: Thanks for the info! But, brackets! Ughhh! I'd certainly have to find someone to do that for me, unless I took up small materials welding. Which, is entirely possible. I'll consider it. I just don't want to alter the bike too much. I really want to keep it as original as possible.

Christy - here are the two types of indicators used for the B100P

The 'lollipop' style used up to engine number B100-86435. Just 'right click; on the images and then save them to your computer so you can print them out if required. The 'lollipop' style doesn't need additional brackets - they just bolt right on. Note that you may need some extra bits like a turn signal relay eh ? If I recall correctly - the right side switch gear already does have the indicator switch and harness ? And the main harness should already have the wiring in it that you need - they didn't use a lot of colours back then, but the right side indicator wire is pale green, and the left side uses a black. A red goes to the indicator relay, and a light blue goes from the relay to the handlebar switch.



And the 'spheriod' style used later. These are similar to the cheap plastic shelled ones you see on eBay. Again, I don't think you need any brackets.

There are a lot of really knowledgeable folks within this community, and I think I've learned more than I've contributed. You give back where you can.

It's all good...Just trying to show my appreciation for everyone willing to share their knowledge. Some folks are kind of uptight about newbies and such.
