Project "Cobra" #553
Well, I have had this frame from my old "Daytona on a Shoestring" bike. I got it as a frame, locked up motor, oil tank, seat and rear fender. That was all. It is T500-10553.
Now it is going to be a somewhat modern cafe bike. It will have the stock tank and highly modified frame with GS500E front end, swingarm (monoshock) and GS500 wheels. GSXR rear sets, bumstop seat, Swarbrick style chambers, Modified engine with TR500 heads.
I don't just hope, but will have it done by Deal's Gap this year.

Three different shots as I had started to see what it would look like.

The rear GS500E swinger set in place. The engine was raised in the rear by pivoting it on the front engine mount. This will allow more room for the swingarm and new pivot mount. Also it will allow for less chance of chain bind to the extreeme distance of the CS to the swingarm pivot point.

Re: Project "Cobra" #553
I was going to use the pivot area out of the GS500 but it won't work as the T frame is too narrow. So I am waiting on a few items to be made and will continue with the swingarm.
Until then I worked on the headlight. GT750J with GS500 headlight brackets. I will have to shorten the tube mounting bracket so I can lower the bars where I want them to be. The bars are from an 82 GS1000SZ Kantana. The squared bottom headlight I think adds nicely to the vintage scheme.

TZ style tank that was on my former T500 racer. Kept it when I sold the bike. It will be on my next racer.two-stroke-brit wrote:I like it so far ,

Re: Project "Cobra" #553
Same here but I want to do it right. Maybe someday I can sneak it into a magazine if I do it right. Wouldn't that be cool? Really looking forward to the handling and power increase. Been wanting to do a retro with more modern suspension for some time now.Wingspan wrote:I can't wait to see this finished. You're doing some very cool stuff.

Get it on the Cafe Racer show, they need a stroker build on there.Zook-e wrote:Same here but I want to do it right. Maybe someday I can sneak it into a magazine if I do it right. It's already over there. There are quite a few T500s and other Suzuki two-strokes already up.Barry S. wrote:Get it on the Cafe Racer show, they need a stroker build on there.
