Yeah i know the SSSA looks really trick and what not, even if its too high tech for an old girl. For clearance reasons its the best thing to get maximum space for the two right pipes to pass as close as possible on that side of any triple cylinder project bike.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

I did take out the original swingarm and swap it with a Tl1000R swinger that I had machined to fit. I have it mocked up and actually looks like everything will fit although routing the chambers will be a problem. Cross that bridge when I get there...

John , i measured my Katana and the SA pivot to rear of the front wheel is the same as my GSXR project bike so your chambers may need to run like mine Image

Dave,

That looks awesome. Does it still have that colored spaghetti at the back end or has that gone away and taken care of itself?

Thanks for the pic Dave, that helps. Working now on the motor mounts, once I get that straightened out then Ill worry about the chambers. What are you using for a radiator? Is that going to be sufficient cooling?

John
My bike is a "bighole" I keep throwing money into, so I had to get another!

speaking of cooling, does anyone make a high flow water pump for these?

There has never been a need. A stock Gt is overcooled. They deleted the fan because it rarely came on even in heavy traffic in hot climates. By comparison, modern bikes have at least one fan and they cut in quite often in traffic.

You could try and electric water pump, but for a street bike that's probably overkill and ugly.

I'd love to have an external, electric water pump. The stockers have such a tendency to leak water , oil, or both! I've just never known how much flow I need.......

Lane
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

John , its the upper radiator from a TL1000 . Its at least as big as the Honda one i have on the Yellow bike and it keeps up OK with the fan coming on only at long lights in the summer heat .

If you want to try an electric water pump, I'd tsart with a Davis Craig boost pump.

It only kicks in when it's needed IIRC so it works even better than a stocker.

Have to think about water flow around the bottom end with the old pump out. I'd suggest doing that at the next major overhaul and pull the water pump drive shaft at the same time. You should replace the pump with a plug to keep water and gearbox oil in their places.

I had to pass on the electric water pump idea as my power demands for the FI system is already useing up a good portion of the supply

I don't post very often and its been awhile since my last one but I thought I'd reply to this thread. The bike in NC featured at the begining of this thread was availabe on CL as of last week, together with a few more from his collection.
Seeing Dave's bike reminded me of an idea I had quite awhile ago regarding replacing the OEM radiator with a smaller one. I'm tempted to give it a try with the understanding of the importance of keeping an eye on the temp if I run without a fan.
