I just picked up some Katana running gear on the cheap. Will a Katana swingarm from a 89-96 750 be too wide at the axle for the exhaust (jemco chambers)? Thanks

You'll be fine. There are several of us with GSXR swingarms on Buffalos with no clearance issues. The GSXR swingarm is wider than the Katana.

I have a GSXR swingarm with Jemcos and do not have a problem with clearance.

Awesome news. I just did a little mock up ish test last night and foune that my middle pipe may cause some interference. I forgot to mention that ive got some longer than stock Marzocci shocks on the rear, which moved the swingarm a bit. Worst case scenario, I may need to cut and angle my silencer on that pesky middle pipe. No big deal though. Thanks.

I see. What length are your shocks?

The shocks on my bike are 14.25" long.

There are a couple of members here that have used the very swingarm you are. I know that Eric has one, and there are others but I cannot remember who they are. Maybe they will speak up and help you out with more information.

Well, yes, I will be using one as soon as I get it. Though as I have mentioned I am having is shortened to match the stock swingarm. The rear section will remain the same but the it will be shortened from the pivot rearward.

Oh, that's right. I forgot about that small detail.

Well, I've got nothin.. But, I'd nearly be willing to put money down that it will fit without modifying your Jemcos. If the shocks are so long to the point that the pipes get in the way, there will be other issues that will be more pressing.

I think that my shocks are 12 3/4 long eye to eye. This is a 550 not a 750 though.

As the bike is now, with the middle pipe installed, the axle is exactly in line and within a 1/2 in of the silencer portion. With the shocks ive got, (Which i love, and dont want to switch out) Ill have to weld on some tabs to mount to. ive got some room to move here as I can tweek in the neck angle with shock position on the swingarm by raising and lowering the back end(to some degree).

Here's my current state of bike (i say that cuz its almost constantly changing)

Put 13.5 inch shocks on there (or make extenders); it'll handle better, AND you'll quit dragging your pipes so much.

By the way, I love the bike.

Im trying to find a swingarm still. Ebay doesnt have any. The tires and front end i picked up are from a 89-96 model 750 katana. All the swingarms on fleabay are for newer bikes.

Hey Kris, what about the swingarm we swapped out from my Katana Buffalo project? Do you want that one?

Connactions are great. A very good fabricator over in Detroit, buy's ZX14 forks and other misc parts from another builder that uses the motors and whatever. Well he is a good friend of the shop and sold me a rear master cylinder and resivoir for a whopping $26 shipped. Its all coming together, now if I only had another 5 hours a day to put all these pieces together, I'd be golden
