Suzuki 2 Strokes

Headed out to the garage to tear down my 73 GT750 to get it ready for Deal's Gap. I have been wanting to do this for a long time but it was such a good daily runner. If I did it would have left me without a bike.

So now with the weather still bad I think I can get it done. It will not be a true resto as there will be some minor things like braided brake lines and aluminum rims and aftermarket shocks. But the stock look and basics will be there.

Going up on the lift in a few minutes and pics will be taken in a before, during and after format.

This is the blue one I have had for several years now. Still don't have my swinger. I have lots of pics from today. All stripped down to the frame except the front end. That's tomorrow.

Before pics. Some of you have seen this bike, my daily rider, one that has been to a few Deal's Gaps and Mid-Ohio.

This photo is what I hadn't seen in my previous work on the bike when I got it. Upon tear down I noticed some silicone and rubbed it off and noticed the welds. For some reason the PO had cut out this section and then welded it back but only 3/4s the way around.

I don't know why that was done, but I'd bet that it was done with the engine in the frame.......

Just ordered this kit form Eastwood. While I am not doing a full resto, I do want the bike to look nice.

I am also getting the frame, swinger and centerstand sandblasted this weekend.

Wish I could, but can't get off work.

I won't be available until after 5pm. I'm willing to stay later and meet you about 6:30ish if it will work for you.

Lookin forward to the finished piece. Theres nothing qwrong with partial restos' that help performance while keeping th eorginal look of the bike.

Purchased a new tool/item to help in the refresh process. The guy who was going to blast the frame called an said he couldn't get to it for a few weeks. Well, I need to get going on the project to have it ready for Deal's.

One cool thing about redoing a bike is all the new tools you get to purchase.

While waiting for the primer to dry on the frame, I decided to do the rebuild on the brake calipers. Took them apart, bead blasted, cleaned and painted and put them back together. The old caliper shows how they looked before.

I used High Heat engine (ceramic) paint in low gloss for the calipers.

That's looking good.

Any plans for bodywork upgrades or suspension changes while it's apart?
