Is this a good place to post the details of our project bikes? There are some great T/Gt500s out there that were lost when the server crashed.

In addition, we know of a few projects that I'd like to watch evolve:

Jaybob's 550
Eric's GT750
Suzukidave's GT750SRAD

What happened to suzookiedookie's race replica/racer? did it run, did it evelove?

What about that gorgeous red and white 500 with silver frame and Coyote Chis's GT550

There's Blueboy of course and bighole's Gt750 to name a few.

Should we post them here? or set up a new "topic" ?

Thoughts?

Richard there should be two places here, one for the project bikes and one for the restoration bikes

The bike was a 74 originally, Dave had it at his house and it was sitting there, so we talked and i ended up getting it from him.
I shipped it back partially pulled down and proceeded to start stripping it out. The motor turns over so i would not be surprised if you threw some fuel in it and it would start, compression seems to be in the ballpark.
I won an 02 GSXR1000 front end for it and a VFR750 rear end for it from fleabay then a VFR 750 rear wheel and a Hayabusa front wheel as well.
Various other bits and pieces have been acquired over the time ive had it, and now its in the process of soon to be getting the major frame mods.
I would rather cut once and get it right than to cut and recut, this thoughtful process is how i managed to slide the wide VFR swingarm into the GTs frame with some ingenious ideas and no damage or destruction to any parts. This usually takes some non agressive sort of thinking, but its better in the end, cause we all know re-buying certain items is costly.
I will have to remove the head tube wrapper, the radiator upper thru-tube etc and beef up the neck area for extra stiffness. Then theres extra gusset bracing, new GSXR footrests attachments and the VFR linkage mounts to adapt as well.
Id like to do almost all the welding at once, so prepping all the custom made pieces and parts for welding in is important for this situation.
Once thats done i will have to decide on what i plan to do with the tank seat and sidecover arrangement.
I have a fairly decent 76-77 Buffalo fuel tank i also got from Dave so im tempted to use it as i like that design.
Since that tank combo does not like clip-ons i may have to use risers or get raised clipons. Either way its a ways off as i am pushing to do the T500 right now and get some of the loads of parts out of boxes and onto something thats actually riding.

How much did you open the frame holes up to take the swingarm axle/bolt/spindle?

Stock is so small compared with almost any modern bike.

The VFR swingarm axle pivot bolt is the same size as the GTs rear axle, theres plenty of room to allow it to be done as the welded in collars are thick. The big problem comes in that you have to bore each one separately, so your alignment jigs have to be 100% perfect.
