1985 RM 125 high rev sputter issue

Hello, I am a new member from Alberta and I am having an issue with my RM 125. I was riding a couple weeks ago and then all the sudden when my bike was about to hit the powerband it just sputtered. I thought I blew the top end but I took it apart to find a pretty much brand new piston and cylinder. Im wondering what you guys might think the issue is? Iv cleaned the carb but im still waiting on gaskets. I changed the plug before and it seemed to help but did not get rid of the issue. :?: :?: :?:

I just cleaned the carb and it was very clean. Still waiting on gaskets to put it back together. Thinking it may be the coil or the stator.
