Suzukidave wrote:Hi Shannon .. good stuff seeing the progress on the 1000cc motor . Are you useing a electric or vaccum fuel pump on the 500 ?
fuel pump is an electric from a kawasaki zzr1100 or later zx9.. nothing fancy.
i would use a mikuni crankcase pressure fuel pump but the diaphrams dont like methanol and the current engine in the bike is a genuine TR engine, so i dont want to do any more damage.

the new barrell will not fit a standard set of cases.. some modest mods are needed to relocate the cylinder bolts.

And Kris. I have seen your bike.. I also have a genuine seeley 750 with a full barton engine with dry clutch.
my frame was also made in 74 , although the tank is a little different. my tank is similar to barry's 73 transatlantic seeley TR but does not have the twin filler caps.

Shannon,
You never did tell me how you made out with the 77 Bufallo you bought from me. Do you still have it? Were you able to fix the coolant getting into the trransmission issue? Did you have to tear it down or were you able to fix it by replacing some external seals? Were you happy with the deal?? Talk to me!

Kris,

We know from reports that the salt was wet and not good conditions. They did get there though:

BTW, here's a link to Bob Prior, another GT750 record holder

Looks like some provisional unofficial results have been posted on the DLRA web site. http://www.dlra.org.au/2009.htm#RESULTS2009

If I'm reading this correctly, it looks like they managed 210.196 MPH ?? :D  That's serious quick !

Wow!
Not bad for a motor that was designed forty years ago...

If I am reading it correctly, they have the highest recorded speed for that class this year. Impressive

ok kiddies.. sorry for the delay but my workload, university and weekend womanising has prevented me from sitting down and sorting out pics and stories.

unfortunately we only managed 3 runs for the whole 5 days due to weather and some scrutineering issues with my bike, thus preventing me to achieve a fast enough license pass to enable me to run 200mph + ..
Brett had a 150mph licence and only needed 2 more passes to run the 200 and i needed 4 runs to get up to scratch.
1st run was a 150mph shakedown. 2nd run was a 175mph run and the last run was a 200mph run over the timed mile with and average of 210 and a top speed of 218.

the condition of the salt was poor due to rain, numerous cars with traction issues tearing up the salt and the track length reduced from 7 miles to 5 miles and speeds limited to 250mph.

in current trim and good salt I dare say that 240mph would not be out of the question. its just a shame we wont know for another 12 months. There is talks of bonneville next august..

Is the red bike a T500?

Post by Kris Bernstein »

Shannon,

Is the red bike in the attached pictures a T500?
Lovely thing, it is. Who did the frame?

Any chance you'll be casting up some more GT1000 cylinders for customers here in the lower 48???
