Crankshaft bearings

Hi,
Was wondering why you couldn't use a single sided shield bearing (2) for the center bearing on a T500 and not use seals. I'am guessing maybe to much pressure? Would be a nice easy fix if it would work. Anyone now if a Yamaha labyrinth seal could be modified to fit and just use 2 smaller bearings, I know I would have to block the trans oil supply and mod cases for pre mix. Thanks for all replies.
