OK ive decided im going to paint my pipes rather than chrome them. (Black)
It will be easier considering the dents etc in them.

Ive had very bad experiences with high temp paint before - eg. it didnt work - peeled, burnt etc etc.

Is there a particular product that you guys have used with success?

Actually if they are Chrome it will be hard to get anything to stick.I think I heard you were oing with Black so I would try some High temp Grill paint.Plasticote also offers a High Temp Exhaust Manifold Spray paint with Silcone that may stick pretty well.Since your in OZ I'm not sure if they will have it over there or not.

Yeah that chrome is screwed so I will get it blasted off I think.

Ill try to get the dents weld filled and file it back myself.

POR-15 has a manifold coating that should be great. I have been meaning to try it myself. I have painted chrome exhausts before with Krylon Bar-B-Q black (1200 degree) and it did OK, but scratches easily, so touch-ups come pretty regularly.

If you're going to blast them and repair the damage, powder or ceramic coat them. That would look good, in fact, there's a ceramic that is close to chrome. Looks good, and far less expensive.

i painted a set of exhaust manifolds for a chev 350 with high heat engine enamel. i got from canadian tire. it was gloss black. it looked pretty good. cant say how long it lasted cause i ended up selling the engine.

I think Pour-20 is a chrome like exhaust paint that might be a cool, inexpensive option. Though I've heard of it I don't know anyone who's tried it.

The 74 I just bought has frame # 73646, which does not agree with the list on Muzza's list.

I just buy on evil bay TC 250 scrambler exhausts with the idea to get a T 20 and to fit them on. I love the japenese scramblers twin that weren't sold in mycountry.

My question is: do they fit easily or do I work on the frame?

Well, after many long hours yesterday.... I'm still nowhere near finished. I've been polishing, cleaning, priming, painting, scrubbing, greasing. I swear I must be in love with this bike to spend so much time on it. I know my wife feels that way about it.

Hey thanks for the kudos guys!

My wife just saw the photos, and asked me "Have you clear coated the aluminum yet?" Of course I couldn't lie, and I told her "No?" She about shot me. "You are NOT taking that out until you get that clear coated!?"

She really doesn't want me to have to polish the bike again.

My wife really isn't that bad. She's actually wonderful, she just doesn't like me spending more time with the bike than her.

I'm hoping to talk her into riding some day.
