Radiator flush & clean out

Is it ok to use commercial radiator flush in a kettle? I've noticed lately that only one side of the radiator core gets hot so I want to give it a good internal clean but I've heard that the stuff used in cars like Holts rad flush will damage the pump seals?

I don't know if I'd try doing that with the radiator attached to the bike, although in theory I suppose it is possible if the cleaner is rated for aluminium blocks and cores. I'd be concerned about plugging the thermostat so if I were to try it, I'd likely remove the thermostat first. Normally the radiator is flushed with a cleaner off the bike.
