Good evening. I'm Alan from South Yorkshire and have several GT550s and a Kettle.
Lots of experience on here and other places, but we like a bit of intro and history first.

Drain oil, pop clutch side cover and take the clutch plates out, clean them , oil them and reassemble. That's it.

Moisture got in there plates are corroded a little. Not hard to do but no other way I know to get clutch free and working on all disks. Expect that you will need a new clutch cover gasket. Oh, get a good Phillips impact driver for it's best to loosen the Phillips screws for their heads strip easy. Male sure you use the larger Phillips head bit (#3?). You may get a way with brand new sharp hand driver but again it's the larger Phillips head and if too small you definitely strip them. Push in and give a quick twist to loosen.

What do you mean getting a little tingle from plug? Is was not sparking so you had the kahonas to grab the plug electrode to see if you would get a zap!

Good batt. good points, proper gap, condenser, good wires cap, coil and plugs you should get quite a jolt!

There is a slight difference between JIS & phillips screws. All of the original screws on your bike are JIS. Its why so many screw heads are messed up on these old bikes. JIS screwdrivers & impact bits are worth every penny if you are going to do much work on these bikes.

Vessel Megadora screwdrivers & a Vessel impact driver are good choices.
You can get them via eBay. Hopefully one of the UK members will provide some other choices.

+1 Everything Vintageman said on the clutch plates and +1 everything Jabcb said on the JIS screws. The JIS screw thing is something I learned about 5 years ago...and wished I'd known the previous 40! Good luck
