Suzuki 2 Strokes

So I go into my garage and see a puddle of gas/oil around my bike wondering where it came from, I cant figure out where until I touch the seat and gas/oil combo starts flowing from my left exhaust pipe. I check the gas tank which I had filled up for winter storage and it was lower than I expected leaving me to believe the worst! I haven't touched the bike or tried to start it or anything, but how can I fix this to prevent engine damage? Any help appreciated, thanks guys.

Just simply take the plugs out and spin it over on the starter / kick it. You might want to change the gearbox oil whilst you're at it, to be on the safe side.

Thanks man, will do that. I need to replace the gearbox oil anyway so ill do that as well to be safe.

Rebuild the vacuum side of the petcock, the o-ring is bad. I installed a brass cut-off inline valve on mine to be on the safe side.

Great idea. This is an aftermarket petcock I bought brand new. That brass cut off line is a great suggestion. I have to add some inline filters ill do it when I take care of those. Cheers

'Full' is not a good way to store the bike for the season. It's best to remove the fuel line and drain the tank. Remove the tank and dump in about 1/2 cup of kerosene. Slosh it all around to prevent rust. Today's gas has a terrible shelf life and you should put in fresh when gearing up next season.

To each their own, keeping the petcock in the off position would have prevented this. I have been keeping the gas tank full with STABIL or SEAFOAM during winter since ive been riding and have never experienced any rust issues and they start right up come spring. I've seen what happens to an empty gas tank over a short period of time in a place with high humidity, no thanks.

Carefull spinning over the engine with the starter as a stray spark with all that gas blowing out

That's what a diaphragm tap does - stops flow when the engine isn't running.
Unless it's knackered of course, as so many are.

There's an OFF on mine, it's aftermarket so that's probably why.
