When I get the time I continue to plug along with my GT project.
I used Citristrip for the varnish remover and it is doing a excellent job of cleaning up the motor cases/ram air cover.
Have a ways to go with both sides of the motor cases but it is coming along with the help of Meguiar's metal polish (same as Mother's).
Been also working on my full set of extra Exhaust pipes, they shine like new but the left upper pipe I have decided not to use because of the dent it has.
For the heck of it I tried that Citristrip on a small section of the battery acid stain on my left upper pipe, along with a copper brush and while the varnish remover was still wet, I scrub the section then wiped it off. Behold- good results, enough that I can keep the Left upper Exhaust pipe that is the only good pipe of the four that are on the 550 right now.
I am waiting on a DB tester before I take my present exhaust pipes off, this way I can compare the loudness at present, then after the other pipes are on w/the new baffles installed and with a full set of pipes w/o all of the underside metal patching.
Haven't tackle the starter issue yet as the pipes are still mounted.
My speedo/tach faces are cleaning up good too but still need more work to get them to look new.

Thanks for the comps... Both switch gear had a few problems but I sorted it out, so good for another 20/30 years.. :up: I can restore any gt switch gear, and kawasaki z1 and laverda switch gear too.. :up:
