The ridiculous Price of parts

Post by sportston »

I never ceases to amaze me how much some parts are. Check this out, GB£28.50 for three rubber grommets. No I have not got the decimal point in the wrong place. The sad thing is that some poor schmuk will buy them at that price and get ripped off. It is obscene! Those grommets cost about 20 pence to make. Whoever is setting that price should be ashamed of themselves. Grrrrr. Anyone would think that the part is for an exotic millionaire's plaything, but no, it is for a humble little old Suzuki run-around, not a Bugatti Veyron.

Not bothered fitting any to my 550 resto.
They were only to protect the original metal plug cap shrouds from arcing to the ram air cowl when it rains.
I've fitted different plug caps - everyone used to fit rubber Lodge caps back in the 70s but I can't find any now!
Intercourse the bolt counters.

Not to mention, the rubber grommet for the head light. That the wire harness feeds through. Is an exact fit and looks identical.

Don't live in some third world or developing countries where the governments rape you with all sorts of duties and taxes. Only then will you realize how good you have it where you are, not that its an excuse for being robbed/ripped off in either shape or form.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Dunno about 3rd world. Sounds like us in the UK.

Yes Alan H, letting all the lower echelon of Europes society into the UK only made an already stressed situation there much worse.

Bollocks to 'em all.
I intend retiring next year, and every time my bosses piss me off I knock a week off my retirement date.
At that rate I might have done in a month!!

Don't think that plan will work out well for me.

A while back, my retirement plan was that I needed to work until I die.

These days, I think I'll have to work a few years after that. :(

Love it. You aren't wrong!
And Alan, you're right, that sound like the UK to a tee!
Lets see now if you happen earn a decent wage you get taxed at 40%, then if you drive a reasonable sized motorcar you get charged over £500 for a years road tax, then you get charged an exorbitant amount of tax on every gallon of fuel you use, if you want a tipple every now and again you get taxed on that too. Woe betide you if you are a smoker, because guess how much a packet of fags are taxed these days? Naturally anything else other than food that you buy is subject to 20% VAT, every stitch you wear and almost every household item. Even food at a restaurant/cafe is taxed. The purchase price of your car consists of a nice slice of tax, as does every part that it will ever require during its lifetime. Then there is council tax, inheritance tax.... The list goes on. If the government could find a way to tax toenail fungus they would do that too. Oh wait....guess what you need if you have toenail fungus? Pharaceuticals! So you go to your local pharmacy and buy some of them and they are...wait for it....Taxed!

Living in the UK sure is taxing!
And because of budget cuts local councils are heavily increasing the price of burial plots. So they even tax you for dying. Why the f**k do people keep immigrating to England? Beats me!

They come to the UK and scrounge off the system because we help immigrants more than we help people who actually work. THEN tell us how they must be treated.
Don't get me started!!! Grrrrr! :x
