Do NOT order Parts from Partzilla

Post by Old School »

I placed an order from Partzilla.com for parts needed for a bike to take the Deals Gap in a week, When I placed the order it appeared that the items I ordered were in stock, this is why I only ordered the parts I did.

Now two days after placing the order, I receive a email stating that all of the parts are back ordered with the exception of one small $1.50 part. The main needed part and reason for ordering from Partzilla is not expected to arrive to THEM until another week.

I make a call to cancel the order, so to start my search for the needed parts elsewhere. Now I am being charged a 15% restocking fee for parts that are NOT even in stock.

DO NOT DEAL WITH PARTZILLA......

I completely understand. The fee that they would charge you is total BS. All motorcycle part dealers do the same exact thing. One thing I like about Motorcycle Superstore is that they keep an up to date inventory on line for you to see. For the part being available at the time of order or not. But, I've been in that same situation with them also. In reference to vintage parts. I don't trust one bit, that most motorcycle part dealers have the vintage part in stock as they may claim. Most of them, order from someone else once you make an order through them. That's why I try to stick with dealers that specialize in older parts. What parts do you need ? I have a lot of used spare stuff.

Thanks. I have had good luck so far with Motorcycle Superstore, I've bought two sets of tires in the last couple weeks and they arrive the next day.

I need a carb to air box boot for a 76 GT500.

Alpha Sports shows that as an available part. That means it is also available from your local dealer. 13880-15304

I have one. OEM, never used, rubber soft. Mounted it on an airbox when attempting to convert from early to late style intake, when I discovered it wouldn't fit (early frame doesn't have airbox mounting stay back far enough).

Yours for $40 shipped USPS priority. Drop me a PM.

Thanks guys for your offering of help and parts.

In my soured "frame of mind" from the Partzilla ordeal, I just went with my very first instinct when I got this bike. Like so many other bikes I have gotten in the past without air boxes, I simply jetted the carb up and installed pod filters. Now it runs like a champ!! Too bad I'm down a "restocking Fee", it would have paid for the Pod filters....

Thanks Again.

I have had trouble with them too.
I ordered parts for my 74 GT185 and there were several parts that were not currently available. No way of knowing that until you have already ordered. I assumed a few days delay. I got an email a few days later saying a week. Ok. I can wait a week. Then I got another email saying another week. Then nothing, and 2 more weeks pass. No update. I contacted them, after finding out exactly what part it was, I asked if they would ship the rest of my order instead of holding the whole dang thing. They agreed and I got my stuff 2 days later. GOOD. AWESOME, except I still haven't received the last part.

The exact same situation is unfolding now with parts I ordered for an 89 XR600. :?

I just want to know ahead of time if my crap is going to take months to get to me. If thats the case I will shop around. Sorry partzilla, im looking for another online place.

FYI. I use this website to see all the schematics. Its super easy to use. Unfortunaly I cant order from them, because its a UK site and the pricing is out of whack and the shipping would be nuts.............

Hi guys, those internet suppliers are Suzuki dealers. The majority of what you order from them is available from your local dealer. I've had the same issues with all of them. They just order the stuff from Suzuki just like your dealer and ship to you. Most of their pricing is dealer suggested retail. If I gotta pay retail, I buy local and usually no shipping costs either.
You gotta pull the wire to go fast
