Final drive gearing GT750

Post by Weirdbeard1000 »

This is for the guys running 17" wheels.

What gearing are you guys running?

I'm going to be ordering sprokets for my project at some point this week, given my choice of wheel set I'm going to have to order a custom rear sprocket because the smallest I can find to fit is 46 teeth. I have a sneaking suspicion that 46 teeth will bring my final drive ratio too low (numerically high) for any highway use. Before I blow $100 on a custom sprocket I want to make sure I'm at least in the ballpark on gearing.

I want to be able to comfortably cruise in the 80-90 mph range without pushing redline yet still be in the lower range of the powerband. My motor will be stock with some form of chambers. No porting changes are in the cards at this time.

What are your thoughts?

Go over to gearingcommander.com and play around with some numbers. There is a preset for the GT750, and you can tweak sprocket size, tire circumference, etc, to get an idea of how each change will affect the bike.
