parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
I will post some pictures in the coming days, but feel free to contact me @ bryan.billington at gmail.com
I realize it's a nice looking bike, but I have my reasons for parting it/scavenging parts off of it for another build.
here's a walkaround of the bike.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzUYLjiLgwg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm keeping the tank, wheels, front end and some other bits but everything else is for sale... just make a reasonable offer. I am willing to ship @ cost. Motor has good compression and was running/riding up until I stripped the bike down. I have all of the running lights/indicators though one lens is cracked.

Re: parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
I'll sell the entirety of what I'm not keeping for 250$ if anyone is interested. Don't really care to sell it piecemeal if I can avoid it.
Motor, frame, swingarm, very good condition seat/pan, bars, lights, airbox, battery box, etc. I will also include the GT500 front end and wheels if my asking price is met.

I don't suppose you are coming up to NJ anytime soon and could drop it off???? Not that I need another T500 project bike. Damn shame to part this one. Is the the one where the previous owner flaked out on the title?

I'll let you know if I'm headed anywhere north of here in the near future. Yeah... the previous owner lied about the title. I could have tried to use a title service for it, but in the end this made more sense as it will help me get another bike complete and on the road more quickly. Just trying to cut my losses I guess.diamondj wrote:I don't suppose you are coming up to NJ anytime soon and could drop it off???? Not that I need another T500 project bike. I'll pick up the GS this weekend and will see what it'll take to get it roadworthy again.Looks good, supposedly was ridden last season and just never put back on the road this year so I'm hoping it's just the usual... battery, clean carbs, new fuel, etc. I haven't seen it yet, but pictures are promising.

Re: parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
thought I had a local buyer, but he came by, looked everything over, and had the nerve to say that none of what I had was better than what he already had on his two bikes. Apparently he was expecting NOS stuff for $250. If nobody is willing to come pick it up, I'm going to ebay the parts... I have the time, might as well.

Re: parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
Bummer! I was really trying to figure out how to squeeze in a 4 hour drive to come get it. Oh well.. Probably better as I'm out of space in my garage and I'm starting to think the missus is almost out of patience!bbillington wrote:I listed a bunch of items on ebay. Hey are you going to be listing the main wire harness? I could use one off a '75 if you are planning on selling it.

Re: parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
I have the main harness. I was thinking to list it, but had no idea what to value it at. Now that I looked at ebay, they're pretty common (not surprising I guess) and cheap.
That said, let me know if you want it.
ALSO just saw this auction

Seriously???? I know people will ask all sorts of crazy money for items and hope that someone will bite, but that is ridiculous.

I would like the main harness and the handlebar switches from both sides. And the main oil feed line from the oil tank to the oil pump if it's in good shape. And the headlight brackets off the GT500 if you are not keeping them. And not sure what else. Gotta think about this. Maybe grab one of the big flat rate boxes from the post office and let me know when I've filled it.bbillington wrote:I have the main harness. As for the engine ebay listing, powersportsnation posts some reasonably priced stuff and some top dollar stuff. The engine would only be a couple of hundred overpriced (to me) provided it passes a pressure test and a leak down test. Doing my own labor, it would still cost me @ $200 to get seals and have a crank rebuilt (this includes mailing it to and getting it back from Bill Bune). Then there's the cost of a rebore and fresh pistons. Figure $100 for the rebore total and another $85 for pistons from "crusinimage_co" off of ebay (anybody try these pistons yet?). Double that $85 for genuine Suzuki pistons tracked down on Ebay.
But figure you have someone that doesn't do a lot of mechanical work and just wants an engine to bolt in. They throw an offer of $300 at power and get the engine for a total of $400 with the shipping. Meanwhile, power pays for the donor bike plus and everybody goes away happy....

That makes sense. Perhaps I'll list the engine as well then and undercut their BIN by 300$.diamondj wrote:I would like the main harness and the handlebar switches from both sides. I'll keep in touch, Jim. I'm putting the GT back together now and want to make sure I don't sell anything that I might want for that project. I've already polished the tops of one set of switches, but I know I have another set as well.

Re: parting 75 T500 DC Metro area
got the GS1100 home last night. Bike is in good shape, but looks to have sat out for a while. Water got into the headlight bucket and sat in there. V&H pipes are rusted, other bits rusty too. Hoping water didn't get into the motor. That said, hard to pass up an 82 GSX1100e that was on the road as recently as last year, when all I paid was 650 with a title (won't make that mistake again). Looking forward to getting started on this one. Though I'd love to try and start it once I've done all the basic safety stuff, I may pull the head and see if it has a set of Wisecos in it... PO seems to believe the PPO was in there at some point
