Hey mate,
Turns out GSXR pegs fit the factory peg mounts, gives a bit more modern look and when I bought them no one was making repro footrest rubbers. Having done that, I've realised thaat with the clubman bars, standard footpeg location isn't going to work for me, so I decided today to go for Titan rearsets - they look so good!
Hopefully the lads at Titan can get them to me before Christmas so I have something shiny to play with instead of hanging out with my wife's family on the day...
If anyone wants a set of powdercoated black standard footpeg irons with GSXR alloy pegs, let me know and I'll send them off...

Hey Steve - Good luck with the project. I bought mine from a private seller on ebay who had kept a New Old Stock set for a number of years. They do turn up on ebay every now and again, just need to keep an eye out and be prepared to spend big!

Carbs now rebuilt and fitted... Just need to find some fuel line and filter foam and the induction side is sorted... After that, it's really just the wiring and some setting up to do!

Top job Nick......you've done a real nice job of that mate. I like the fact that you have used the stock tank....for me it retains the identity as a T500.
Can you use the bike 2 up?

Thanks titan!
The seat is a little short for two-up (I'm a fuller-figured motorcyclist), plus no pillion pegs. I've registered the bike as a single seater, as this saves several hundred dollars on registration (road tax/MOT costs).

Re: GreenMachine's T500R
Fuller figured LOL.! .....I know the feeling.
Yeah I guess the rearsets are too far back for the possibility of pillion pegs anyway.........If your other half is anything like mine, there is absolutely no interest in going on the back of a bike whatsoever, or at least there isn't since I did 165 with her on the back of my R1, and the bag she had over her shoulder throttled her ! Ooops.
Can't believe you guys down under get extra taxed for the pillion seat? That's harsh, just when we were thinking all was wonderful down there !

Re: GreenMachine's T500R
Pillions are a zero-sum equasion, I reckon... Spoils the handling of the bike (even my big old Honda - can't imagine how bad the T would feel), spoils my enjoyment because I'm super paranoid of being in charge of someone else's safety, plus eventually no matter how you ride you'll scare the pillion with a handbag incident!titan performance wrote:Fuller figured LOL.! .....I know the feeling.

The extra tax is in the compulsory insurance you ave to carry for passengers and other road users - makes sense, pillions on bikes are way more at risk than passengers in cars. Single seat registration/compulsory insurance is only $160 a year. Dual seat is a bit under 300... Better than cars - my 6cyl work sedan is over $700 a year and my V8 toy is over a grand!
Still - we have the weather to use them all 12 months of the year!!
