Old school Drag bike pics.

Post by gminkmonster »

Thought I would post a few pics of old Suzukis that me and my Father used to race. Dad built his own expansion chambers and I still have the specs if anyone is interested in building a set.

Those vintage pictures are great and by the display of trophy's he did very well with his machines  i have to ask .. several of the bikes in the pictures have knobbies on the rear , was he useing the cafe bikes for motocross ? I think it would be real nice to have the chamber specs posted in the performance section

The bikes were used for asphalt and dirt drag racing. We would just swap rear tires for which ever track we were going to that week. I will try to get the chamber specs posted in the near future. I unfortunatly do not have the porting specs. Dad never wrote them down as far as I know. He passed away 3 years ago and took many 2 stroke secrets with him.

Nice pictures! Thank you for sharing them. I'd love to see the chamber specs as well please. Did your dad modify the gearbox at all for drag racing on the T500?

Love the rear 'shocks' on the drag bike. Classic!!!

I do not remember any changes to the gearbox itself, But we did use a two tooth larger front sprocket. The gearboxes were pretty much bulletproof as were the stock Suzuki chains. Only one chain ever broke. While we were at a National meet in Columbus Oh. Dad beat the national record holder in his class which was FF/M heads up during time trials, but was not able to run eliminations due to the chain breaking on the next time trail. It flew forward and cracked the case. I will pick up the chamber specs this weekend.

I just re-read this post and I meant smaller front sprocket not larger.
