Re: I'm Bushed .........
I see you used the method I used Ian, and yes it takes some time but it does get the part out quite effectively. Now only two more to go on that same side if you are changing the set.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Carefull of your knuckles!
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: I'm Bushed .........
Well - yes and no. I started with a blind bearing/seal puller that I use on wheels bearing etc., and it worked fine on one. However the other five either wouldn't budge, or were worn so oval that the I couldn't use the puller (the mandrel wouldn't fit the bore of the bush) so I had to resort to the drill and cut method. Quite annoying, but in the end I got it done.Suzsmokeyallan wrote:I see you used the method I used Ian

I'm puzzled, once you get one bush on each side out, you can knock the other three out from across the case.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Nope - wouldn't budge. Heated them, chilled them, cursed at them mightily - not going anywhere.Suzsmokeyallan wrote:I'm puzzled, once you get one bush on each side out, you can knock the other three out from across the case.

Hmmm, I used one swift hit and they moved so it was followed by some more and they flew out easily. I had the cases supported by some hardwood blocks though.

Yep - that would be the normal way to do it.Suzsmokeyallan wrote:Hmmm, I used one swift hit and they moved so it was followed by some more and they flew out easily. I had the cases supported by some hardwood blocks though.

Re: I'm Bushed .........
I'm just doing mine now, this is ugly, have broken 3 of those tiny little drill bits and it still won't come out, even a torch won't melt the remaining rubber. Why am I doing this anyway, the old ones are tight, are new ones going to make that much difference?

Re: I'm Bushed .........
The rubber on my inserts was in really good shape also - my problem was the 10mm metal inserts on the centre and rear bushes were worn oval, So no choice but to fix them - but boy, they were really stuck in there.Bloop2 wrote: Why am I doing this anyway, the old ones are tight, are new ones going to make that much difference?
